Funeral planned Friday for Clayton County officer killed in wreck



The funeral service will be held Friday for the Clayton County officer killed in a crash while responding to a call.
Darryl Wallace, 26, died Sunday night when he tried to avoid striking another motorist and instead over-corrected and left Tara Boulevard, police said. Wallace had graduated from the police academy in November.
A public viewing will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Tara Garden Chapel, 581 North Ave., Jonesboro. Visitation will be at the chapel from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The funeral for Wallace for will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Divine Faith Ministries, 9800 Tara Boulevard, Jonesboro, with Bishop Donald Battle officiating. Interment will follow at Kennedy Memorial Gardens, 2500 River Road, Ellenwood.
Wallace is survived by his parents, fiancee, six siblings and several other relatives, according to his online obituary.
