Ashland Police Officer Killed In Sarpy County Crash

The Ashland Police Department confirms that Officer Daniel Ottis was killed in Tuesday night's motorcycle crash near 234th street and Highway 6.

The crash happened between Ashland and Grenta.

Two pick-up trucks and a motorcycle were involved in the crash. According to the Nebraska State Patrol the trucks were traveling east on Highway 6; the motorcycle was traveling west. Both trucks ended up in the north ditch of Highway 6.

The motorcycle came to rest at the corner of 234th and Highway 6.

The Sarpy County Chaplain arrived on the scene about an hour after the crash. According to the State Patrol, the motorcycle driver was killed in the crash. The pick-up drivers remained on the scene talking with authorities after the crash.

The Nebraska State Patrol and Sarpy County Sheriff's office are investigating the crash. An Ashland Police car was also on the scene.

"It's a complex scene," Trooper James Estwick told Channel 6 News. Highway 6 was closed for several hours.
